Help us discover how to grow Pageticker

Pageticker is a book tracking app designed to make it easier and more rewarding for children and their families to build a regular reading habit.

We’re now looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to help us answer one of the most important questions for the next stage of our business:

Where can we acquire the right customers, efficiently and at a cost that makes sense?

This isn't a role where you'll inherit a large advertising budget and an established acquisition playbook. We want someone who enjoys figuring things out: testing channels, understanding the data, improving attribution and discovering where we can genuinely drive sustainable growth.

A little about us

Pageticker is being built by the team behind DoodleLearning, the Bath-based EdTech company acquired by Discovery Education in 2022.

We learned a huge amount from building and growing DoodleLearning, and Pageticker gives us the opportunity to do it again — this time focused on helping children build a lifelong reading habit.

We're a small, experienced team based in central Bath. We're still early in our growth journey: we have a product we're proud of and now want to understand how to reach many more families without assuming that bigger marketing budgets are the answer.

That's where you come in.

What you'll be responsible for

You'll take ownership of our direct-to-consumer acquisition activity, working closely with our product and development teams.

You'll:

  • Design and run small, disciplined acquisition experiments across different channels
  • Build a clear understanding of where our customers are coming from
  • Improve our attribution and measurement across the customer journey
  • Track the journey from ad or discovery → app download → parent sign-up → activation → ongoing use
  • Understand customer acquisition cost by channel and identify where we should invest
  • Run and optimise paid acquisition campaigns, starting with relatively modest budgets
  • Improve conversion throughout our acquisition funnel
  • Work on App Store Optimisation (ASO) to increase organic discovery and conversion
  • Use lifecycle marketing to help turn new users into active, engaged families
  • Work closely with product and development to make sure we're measuring the right things
  • Turn data into clear recommendations about what we should test, stop, improve or scale

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The person we're looking for

You’ll be an analytical, commercially minded marketer who is as interested in why something worked as whether it worked.

You'll ideally have experience in several of these areas:

  • Performance or growth marketing in a consumer business
  • Digital attribution and marketing analytics
  • Paid social and/or paid search
  • Designing and evaluating acquisition experiments
  • Customer acquisition cost, conversion and funnel analysis
  • App marketing and App Store Optimisation
  • Customer lifecycle/CRM marketing
  • Analytics tools and marketing measurement

You don't need to be an expert in every marketing discipline. We'd rather find someone who is excellent at experimentation, acquisition and analytics and comfortable learning the rest.

You should be happy being hands-on. We're a small team, so this is a role for someone who enjoys doing the work, getting into the numbers and moving quickly rather than managing a team or agency.

What success looks like

In your first year, we want you to help us build a much clearer picture of:

  • Who our highest-value customers are.
  • Where we can find more of them.
  • What it costs us to acquire them.
  • Which channels deserve more investment.
  • What makes a new customer become a genuinely active Pageticker user.

Our key growth measures are app downloads, parent sign-ups and weekly active usage — but we're particularly interested in understanding the relationships between them, rather than chasing downloads that don't result in engaged users.

What it's like to work here

We're a small team, so you'll have genuine ownership of your area and work directly with the people building the product.

You'll have a significant influence over our growth strategy, the freedom to test ideas without layers of approval, and the opportunity to shape how we approach marketing as Pageticker grows.

We're deliberately approaching growth carefully. We don't believe that throwing money at advertising is a substitute for understanding your customer. We want to learn what works, understand why it works and then invest behind it.

We're looking for someone who finds that challenge exciting.
