About Us

In just over two years, we’ve gone from 0 to over 700 customers, succeeding where many have tried and failed before. We’re now on the hunt for a brilliant all-rounder who wants to make an enormous impact on Spruce’s growth trajectory as we add thousands of installers over the next 18 months. You’ll work on marketing, commercial strategy, RevOps, reporting & analytics, and generally anything that helps accelerate our growth.

This is not an easy job – but we can promise it’ll be incredibly stimulating & fulfilling, and you’ll struggle to find a lovelier, more engaged group of customers to work with (..and the team’s not bad either!).

About Spruce

Almost 20% of the UK’s carbon emissions comes from heating homes – there’s simply no way to make reach net zero without phasing out gas and oil boilers. Right now the only serious alternative is heat pumps, with their almost-magical ability to turn 1 kW of electricity into 3-5 kW of heat (🤯). But there’s a problem: the heat pump installation journey is slow, inefficient, and just so painful. This makes it really hard for existing installers to grow their businesses and puts off gas engineers from starting to do heat pumps. Perhaps most critically, it means you can’t currently offer a heat pump when someone’s boiler breaks and they urgently need heating.

We’re fixing this. We’ve built a platform for heat pump installers to manage the whole installation journey from initial enquiry through to final compliance paperwork, freeing up their time to focus on what really matters: doing high-quality installations, providing great customer service, and scaling their business. Despite only getting started at the beginning of 2024, we’re having a massive impact on hundreds of installation businesses, merchants, utilities and manufacturers across the UK: halving the time they spend on each job, doubling their sales conversion rates, and boosting their bottom line.

We raised a chunky Seed round last year from top-tier investors and have been scaling the team to massively grow our impact. We’re in the process of expanding outside heat pumps and by the end of the year will be an operating system for the whole home renewables supply chain. If you can picture a combination of ServiceTitan, Procore, and autoCAD, you might get a sense of where we’re headed…

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role

As we drive the business towards the next fundraise, you’ll be working closely with Hector and our founder Jo getting stuck into pretty much everything that goes on across the growth side of business. No two days will be the same, but at minimum your work will include:

  • Running growth experiments – setting up and running our full set of growth/marketing tests, quickly binning things that don’t work, and iterating quickly on everything to find our growth levers.
  • Creating & managing ads, creative, and content – top and middle-funnel marketing content, videos, customer testimonials, short form copy for our website, socials, ads, and nurturing emails, and onboarding guides for new customers.
  • Supporting sales & customer success – building the systems that allow our commercial teams to scale hyper-efficiently and deliver exponentially more value per hour of work they do.
  • Data analysis & reporting – digging into how our customers are using the platform, breaking down conversion rates through our marketing and sales pipelines, spotting areas we can improve, and coming up with suggestions for when and how we should change tack.

About You

You’ll have somewhere between 1 and 6 years work experience (doesn’t matter if it’s not directly related to this role) and you’ll ideally be:

  • Relentlessly proactive – you naturally take responsibility, are always pushing to make things better, and just want to crack on and get sh*t done;
  • A brilliant communicator — you write compelling, concise copy and can explain complex concepts simply;
  • Highly analytical — you have a real affinity for numbers, love diving into data, and are comfortable working in Excel;
  • A natural “people person” — you love working with people, find it easy to warm to them and quickly put them at ease;
  • An AI whizz – you’re way ahead of the average person with your LLM usage, have built interesting/cool things in your spare time, and are deeply conscious of all the things that are possible that you haven’t had a chance to try yet;
  • … and you’ll hopefully also love heat pumps! 🤓

Working at Spruce

We’re currently a close-knit team of 26, split between London and Bristol. We spend 2-3 days each week working together in-person in both locations, and get everyone altogether every fortnight.

You'll have genuine influence from day one. The best idea wins regardless of seniority. We expect you to challenge everything, ask "why?" multiple levels deep, and push back when something doesn't make sense.

We want everyone to spend time with installers on-site, feel their pain points, then be able to rapidly suggest and implement solutions based on real feedback rather than assumptions.

We move fast and ship imperfect things, learning from users rather than trying to perfect in isolation. When things break, we focus on how we fix it, what can we learn and never blame. You'll own your outcomes whilst knowing the team has your back.

Feedback is constant, direct, and kind – we'll tell you when something isn't working and expect the same honesty (and empathy) back.
