Svitlo Education is a UK-registered charity dedicated to empowering the next generation of Ukrainians to become globally minded citizens and future social and political leaders. Through Svitlo School, a free online extracurricular program, the organization provides Ukrainian children with high-quality education, mentorship, and a supportive international community. Founded in March 2022 in response to the disruption of schooling caused by the Russian invasion, Svitlo initially relied on volunteer teachers to offer online classes that restored a sense of stability, safety, and hope. Today, Svitlo School has grown into a vibrant international learning community with live online classes, workshops, and mentoring sessions led by educators and professionals from leading institutions worldwide. Its curriculum emphasizes English language development, critical thinking, leadership, global citizenship, and access to international academic opportunities, supported by partnerships with schools and universities in the UK and beyond.

The Guest Lecturer role is a remote volunteer position focused on delivering engaging online sessions for Ukrainian students. Day-to-day activities include:
- Preparing lesson plans or talks aligned with Svitlo School’s themes of global citizenship, leadership, and academic exploration
- Teaching live online classes or workshops
- Facilitating interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and reflective activities
Guest Lecturers collaborate with Svitlo coordinators to schedule sessions, adapt content to learners’ English proficiency and age levels, and provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for students. The role may also involve:
- Sharing academic and career pathways
- Offering light mentorship within sessions
- Providing feedback to help improve Svitlo’s programs
All teaching is conducted online using Svitlo’s digital platforms, allowing Guest Lecturers to participate from any location.
Qualifications
- Strong teaching, training, or public speaking skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to school-age learners.
- Experience designing lessons, talks, or workshops that encourage critical thinking, leadership, and global citizenship.
- Ability to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment and to engage students through interactive activities and discussions.
- Proficiency in English; familiarity with Ukrainian language or context is an asset but not required.
- Background in education, social sciences, international relations, STEM, arts, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Comfort with online teaching tools (video conferencing platforms, presentations, collaborative documents) and remote collaboration.
- Commitment to Svitlo Education’s mission, cultural sensitivity, and a respectful, non-discriminatory approach to working with young people.
- Prior experience working with children or youth, in formal or informal educational settings, is highly beneficial.
