The Rathbone Hotel is a townhouse-style boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet corner of Fitzrovia, just off Charlotte Street, one of London’s most characterful neighborhoods. Role Description

The Guest Service Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at The Rathbone Hotel in London. This role focuses on delivering welcoming, efficient, and personalized service to guests from arrival through departure.

Daily Responsibilities Include:

  • Greeting guests
  • Assisting with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Managing reservations
  • Responding to guest inquiries in person, by phone, and via email

The Guest Service Assistant supports concierge-style services such as:

  • Providing local recommendations
  • Coordinating transport
  • Assisting with restaurant and theatre bookings

Additional Tasks Include:

  • Handling payments
  • Maintaining accurate guest records
  • Liaising with housekeeping and other departments to meet guest needs
  • Ensuring public areas and front desk spaces remain tidy and inviting

Qualifications

  • Strong guest service and hospitality skills, with a genuine commitment to creating a welcoming and comfortable experience.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including clear spoken and written English and the ability to interact confidently with diverse guests.
  • Organizational and time management abilities, including handling multiple tasks, managing reservations, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with sound judgment and a calm, professional approach under pressure.
  • Basic administrative and IT skills, including use of hotel reservation systems, email, and standard office software.
  • Knowledge of Opera is desirable.
  • Previous experience in front desk, reception, or customer-facing hospitality roles is highly beneficial.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations.
  • A professional, courteous demeanor and a presentable appearance consistent with a refined boutique hotel environment.
