About the role
As a Guidewire Lead Consultant, you will be the technical and functional anchor on our clients' Guidewire programmes, from greenfield implementations to Guidewire Cloud migrations. You will turn P&C business needs into solution designs that work and follow Guidewire standards, lead a team of technical analysts and developers, and act as the trusted day-to-day advisor to client stakeholders.
You will also look ahead. You will track Guidewire's biannual cloud releases, assess what each one means for the client's roadmap, and help the business see the value of adopting new capability rather than customising around it.
What you will do
- Solution design: Lead end-to-end technical design across PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and/or BillingCenter. Own the configure-vs-customise decision and keep designs consistent across workstreams.
- Requirements and workshops: Facilitate discovery workshops and fit-gap sessions. Support BAs in turning business requirements into user stories, functional specs and technical specs.
- Build oversight: Oversee configuration, product model, UI, rules, workflows and integrations. Run design and code reviews against Guidewire best practice.
- Integration: Shape integration patterns with rating engines, document generation, payments, CRM, data platforms and third-party data providers, using Cloud APIs, App Events, messaging and plugins.
- Release readiness: Assess each upcoming Guidewire release for impact and value, and feed it into release plans and upgrade paths.
- Issue resolution: Be the escalation point for complex technical and functional defects across SIT, UAT and hypercare.
- Team leadership: Mentor and motivate technical analysts and developers, and contribute to the practice's Guidewire accelerators and assets.
- Documentation: Produce and maintain solution designs, technical specs, process flows and operational handover materials.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
