Blue Fieldsports Job Opportunity
Blue Fieldsports is looking for a practical, organised, detail-focused person to join our team near Corhampton, Hampshire, from January 2027.
We are a Registered Firearms Dealer, gun shop and gunsmith supplying firearms, ammunition, optics, parts and accessories, plus bespoke rifle builds, servicing, RFD transfers and US imports. This hands-on role supports our gunroom, stock operation and online order fulfilment - receiving and organising products, maintaining stock records, and preparing customer orders.
The Role
Goods In and Stock Control
- Receive deliveries, check against POs and paperwork, and book items into our stock system (including serial numbers).
- Check quantities, condition and pricing; report damaged, incorrect or missing items.
- Label, organise and securely store products; keep the gunroom tidy.
- Carry out stock counts, reconcile records and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels, flag reorders, raise POs and chase outstanding/back-ordered items.
- Source specialist products from UK and overseas suppliers, including customer special orders.
Products and Website Listings
- Maintain accurate product/stock data in Odoo and on our website.
- Research and update descriptions, specs, availability and pricing.
- Photograph and edit product images; publish complete listings.
- Create/update product records, categories and prices.
- Assemble, label and package manufactured or own-brand products.
Orders and Dispatch
- Pick, pack and dispatch website and phone orders.
- Generate labels and delivery paperwork; arrange courier collections.
- Check customer certificates/licences, escalate uncertainty, and process transactions per procedure.
- Assist with sales orders, collections, RFD transfers and booking in firearms for servicing.

Customers and Events
- Help customers by phone, email and in person.
- Refer technical, licensing or gunsmithing queries to the right team member.
- Assist at Blue Rifle & Pistol Club shoots and other events within your training.
- Keep clear internal notes, checklists and compliance records.
- Help with other gunroom, stock and admin duties as needed.
- Firearms, ammunition and controlled products must be handled per our procedures. Full training provided - you won't be expected to work beyond your knowledge or authority.
What You Will Need
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail; a methodical, organised approach.
- Confidence with computers and stock-management systems.
- Ability to follow procedures and checklists.
- Good written and spoken communication.
- Careful checking of paperwork, quantities and product details.
- Responsible attitude to firearms, security and record-keeping.
- Comfort handling firearms/ammunition after training.
- Ability to work independently and know when to ask for help.
- Professional approach with customers and suppliers.
- Willingness to do practical, repetitive and admin work.
- Good team player in a small team.
Useful but not essential
- Experience in a gun shop, RFD, armoury, workshop or outdoor retailer.
- Experience with goods-in, warehousing, fulfilment or stock control.
- Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, optics or UK shooting sports.
- Experience with Odoo or another ERP/stock/e-commerce system.
- Experience dispatching online orders or maintaining website listings.
- Basic product photography/image editing.
- Familiarity with courier-booking systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A shotgun or firearm certificate.

The Person We Are Looking For

Location and Working Arrangements
Based at our premises near Corhampton, Hampshire (customer visits generally by appointment). The role is premises-based, working in the gunroom, stock areas and office, and involves repetitive stock handling, packing, light assembly and lifting/moving boxes within reasonable limits. Some weekend or out-of-hours work may be needed for club shoots and events - details discussed as part of the role.
Training
Provided in: stock, order and purchasing systems; Odoo and website admin; goods-in and dispatch procedures; product photography and listing workflows; product categories and terminology; firearms/ammunition handling and record-keeping; RFD transfers and workshop booking; supplier sourcing and imports; club-shoot/event support; and internal security and compliance. You won't be expected to give technical, legal, licensing, instructional or gunsmithing advice beyond your competence - we'd always rather you ask than guess.
