Health, Safety and Fire Specialist: Midlands

Location: Home-based, with travel across the East and West Midlands

Salary: GBP 45,000 - GBP 50,000

Contract: Six-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent

Benefits: GBP 6,000 car allowance or electric/hybrid company car, fuel card or mileage expenses, discretionary bonus, and 8% pension contribution

Start Date: Ideally September 2026

Our client is a well-established UK property business with an extensive, multi-site portfolio spanning retail parks, high-street properties, industrial estates, and other commercial premises.

The organisation is currently investing significantly in its internal Health, Safety and Fire function, bringing services in-house that have historically been delivered by external consultancies. With an established regional structure already in place, they are now seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Fire Specialist to provide additional support across the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an evolving in-house function where you will have the scope to influence standards, improve processes, and support the continued development of the organisation's approach to Health, Safety and Fire compliance.

The Role

Operating across a diverse commercial property portfolio, you will undertake Health and Safety and Fire Risk Assessments while providing practical, commercially focused guidance to regional facilities and site management teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
