Job Description: Service Manager for Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Phlebotomy

This is a permanent post to provide strategic leadership and management for the Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Phlebotomy service across the UHB, as befitting a prestigious Teaching Hospital Laboratory Service.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Head of Service (Laboratory Clinical Director) and Director of Operations for Clinical Diagnostics and Therapeutics.
• Oversee the day to day management of human, physical, and information resources to ensure continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
• Provide specialist reference services to other hospitals across Wales and the UK.
• Ensure the department works within a quality management framework to retain UKAS, MHRA, & HTA accreditation.
• Manage all aspects of the delivery of the Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Phlebotomy services.
• Act as a budget holder for the service and establish and maintain financial controls.
• Lead and manage teams within the policies and procedures of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to ensure high standards of performance and quality.
• Collaborate with colleagues, lab teams, Clinical Leads, Service Managers in Laboratory Medicine, and the Clinical Board.
• Uphold the values and behaviours of the organisation and lead by example.
