About the Role
Bring your expertise in Lymphoma and General Haematology to a role where you can make a meaningful impact on patient care and service development across Hywel Dda University Health Board.
We are seeking a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest in lymphoma and General Haematology to join our team at Withybush General Hospital.
You will join a team of seven consultants providing a comprehensive haematology service across four hospital sites, supported by Associate Specialists, Specialty Doctors, Clinical Fellows, Foundation Trainees, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Specialist Pharmacists.
The post offers a varied mix of General Haematology and lymphoma work, with opportunities to contribute to the continued development of subspecialist services across the Health Board. Working closely with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care and service improvement initiatives.
Based at Withybush General Hospital, this role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative department serving communities across West Wales while contributing to the ongoing development of haematology services throughout the region.
Clinical
- The appointee should be able to demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology.
- The successful candidate will develop this subspecialty across the health board and working alongside the generalist consultants.

Inpatients
- The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Haverfordwest site.
- At the three peripheral sites, the contribution is consultative to the local medical team.
Outpatients
- The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, within Lymphoma and General Haematology.
- Consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on applicant’s experience to date.
There is a weekly health board wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.
Duties
The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.
- The appointee is required to have full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
- The appointee will contribute to all aspects of the general haematology and haemo-oncology work including participation in departmental meetings and on-call rota.
- Clinics in other hospital sites will be required (virtual clinics are an option).
- The appointee must be someone who can help develop our rural service to ensure excellent patient care.
