About the Role
Bristol City Council’s Parks and Green Spaces Service manages one of Bristol's most important community assets, providing a vital citywide resource for recreation and leisure, health and wellbeing and access to nature and wildlife. The service manages a diverse and nationally important green space estate across 2000 hectares including heritage estates, formal parks and gardens, cemeteries, allotments, trees and woodland and children and young people’s play facilities.
Opportunity
We have a new opportunity within the Parks Service for an experienced surveyor or engineer to be our in-house subject matter expert - providing practical support to deliver our parks’ assets repair programme and our capital investment programme. You will be able to make a significant impact on the quality of our parks and green spaces and on the communities that use and experience them.
Our asset base includes walls and railings, footpaths and roads, lakes, weirs, bridges, memorials and ancient monuments, play areas, ball courts and bike tracks. Reporting to our Assets Manager you will be able to inspect/survey, investigate, diagnose and confirm main causes of defects within structures and then specify suitable solutions for their repair, renewal, restoration, conservation, or demolition. You will recommend when other subject matter expert advice is needed.

Qualifications
Qualified to HNC / NVQ HNC Level 4 or equivalent and above in civil engineering / construction you will also have a period of relevant practical experience to demonstrate competence in the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of a range of civil / engineered structures.
