Hardware Design Engineer

Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 - Onsite
Salary: c.£45,000 (Dependant on experience) + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent

Rullion is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Mansfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electronics / Hardware Design Engineer to work on a range of innovative electronic systems within a technically focused engineering environment.

You'll provide hardware engineering expertise throughout the design and implementation process, working closely with production, project teams and external customers to deliver designs that meet the required specification, quality, cost, efficiency, reliability and timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hardware engineering support for a range of electronic systems, ensuring designs meet specification and quality requirements.
  • Develop and deliver analogue and digital hardware designs using recognised best-practice design methods.
  • Support the introduction of new hardware designs from initial planning through to full implementation.
  • Liaise with production, project teams and external customers to ensure engineering activities meet site objectives and budget requirements.
  • Lead or support technical investigations into hardware engineering issues and provide timely, high-quality solutions.
  • Identify and recommend changes to specifications, designs and processes to improve product reliability and operational performance.
  • Represent the Engineering team at internal and external meetings, working collaboratively to resolve technical challenges.
  • Apply value engineering and continuous improvement (CI) techniques to improve hardware engineering performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant UK Health & Safety, quality and engineering standards.
  • Support the achievement of key performance targets covering Right First Time (RFT), efficiency, cost and service.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in electronics hardware design within a relevant engineering or electronics environment.
  • A good understanding of analogue and digital electronics design principles.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience using best-practice hardware design methods, value engineering and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A self-motivated, disciplined and innovative approach to engineering.
  • Strong attention to quality, Health & Safety and technical standards.
  • Good time management and the ability to deliver work to agreed deadlines.
  • A strong customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
