Hardware Engineer III (Acoustic Research Engineer)
12 Month Contract | £84,000 base salary | Cambridge, UK | Fully Onsite

Our client, a global leader in immersive technology, is looking for a Hardware Engineer III (Acoustic Research Engineer) to join a world-class research team developing the future of virtual and augmented reality. What You'll Be Doing
- Design and conduct acoustic experiments in controlled laboratory environments.
- Develop tools and data acquisition systems using Python, MATLAB, or MaxMSP.
- Collect and analyse acoustic data using advanced capture systems and prototype devices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams on audio technology projects.
- Produce technical reports documenting research findings and methodologies.

Must-Haves
- Master's degree in a relevant technical field with 3+ years' industry experience in audio technology development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience designing and conducting audio/acoustic experiments in controlled laboratory environments.
- Strong hands-on experience in audio signal processing and analysing audio data.
- 3+ years' programming experience using Python, MATLAB, or MaxMSP for audio applications.
- Strong understanding of acoustics and audio hardware systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams.

Nice to Have
- Experience with real-time audio development using C/C++.
- Knowledge of psychoacoustics, spatial audio, room acoustics, or auditory perception.
- Experience with PyTorch or other machine learning frameworks.
- Experience working with prototype hardware devices or motion tracking systems.
- Experience designing acoustic laboratory environments or large-scale automated data collection.
- Strong technical writing or research publication experience.
