Datacentre Hardware Engineer

Location: Newbury/Swindon area (5 days per week onsite)

Competitive salary with on-call allowance and overtime

At Bell Integration, we keep some of the world's most critical IT environments running. We're looking for an experienced Hardware & Datacentre Engineer with SC Clearance to join our team, providing hands-on support within a customer datacentre environment.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role where you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and supporting enterprise infrastructure whilst ensuring the highest standards of service, security, and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Installing, maintaining, and replacing enterprise server, storage, and network hardware
  • Performing hardware break-fix activities and resolving incidents within SLA targets
  • Rack, stack, cable, and decommission datacentre equipment
  • Managing structured copper and fibre cabling installations
  • Supporting power management activities, equipment health checks, and hardware upgrades
  • Executing infrastructure changes and supporting project deployments
  • Working closely with customers, vendors, and remote engineering teams
  • Maintaining accurate asset records, documentation, and technical reports
  • Contributing to major incident response, root cause investigations, and disaster recovery activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all customer security, operational, and health & safety requirements

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Previous hands-on experience working within a datacentre environment (this is a must-have)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a hardware engineering, datacentre engineering, or infrastructure support role
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise hardware from vendors such as Dell, HPE, IBM, Lenovo, Cisco UCS, or similar, with a preference for Dell and HPE
  • Experience performing hardware diagnostics, replacements, upgrades, and break-fix activities
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, including fibre and copper
  • Experience working in high-pressure, mission-critical environments where downtime is not an option
  • Comfortable working independently within secure customer environments
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira

Highly Desirable

  • Customer-facing experience within a managed services, consulting, or customer-owned datacentre environment
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage platforms
  • Understanding of datacentre power, cooling, and infrastructure operations
  • Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes
  • ITIL Foundation or relevant vendor certifications

Please Note

  • Participation in an on-call one week on one week off rota is required.
  • You must have security clearance for this role.
