I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Validate hardware and software through integration and certification testing.
- Support design reviews and safety assessments.
Documentation & Accountability
- Maintain technical documentation, test reports, and traceability matrices.
- Present findings at design reviews and take ownership of module development from concept to deployment.
Requirements & Qualifications
We value passion-driven problem-solving and a willingness to thrive in a dynamic environment. While experience is a plus, these attributes will help you succeed:
Essential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Robotics, or Communications Engineering (or related field).
- Hands-on experience in hardware design and embedded systems development.
- Familiarity with SIL-rated systems, ideally SIL4 (e.g., rail/AVIONICS).
- Proficiency with modern microcontroller SDKs (STM32, TI, NXP, etc.).
- Analytical approach to debugging and trouble-shooting.
Desirable
- FPGA design knowledge (VHDL/Verilog, Xilinx/ISE, Altera Quartus).
- Experience with automated testing, including HIL systems (RT Systems, dSPACE, etc.).
- Understanding of mechanical system integration (assuming a multidisciplinary role).
