Ealing Council Harm Reduction Youth Outreach Officers
Ealing Council have an exciting new opportunity for two Harm Reduction Youth Outreach Officers available on a full-time, 2-year fixed term basis. At Ealing Council, we strive to provide innovative interventions with our most vulnerable young people, working hard to support them to move forward positively and remove barriers that they may be facing. We are committed to facilitating communities that enable our young people to thrive and contribute to a safer, healthier and more equitable environment.
The Harm Reduction Youth Outreach Officers are part of a Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) funded project to work with young people involved in serious youth violence, harmful sexual behaviour, missing episodes and on the edge of care. Working face-to-face with individuals and their wider peer networks in school, the community and youth settings, the Officers will create significant trusting relationships with young.
As Harmful Youth Outreach Officer, you will:
- Work with staff across Ealing’s Integrated Youth Service and Social Care to engage, safeguard and support children and young people experiencing multiple and overlapping harms, including repeated missing, exploitation, harmful sexual behaviour and serious youth violence, using a child-first, trauma-informed and relational approach as identified suitable for support through grant funding.
- Work face-to-face with these young people using a variety of youth work methods including one-to-one support, project work and outreach, to encourage and support dissociation from SYV and offending particularly robbery.
- Work with their families and education providers to secure eligible young people’s engagement with the project.

Our ideal Harm Reduction Youth Outreach Officer will have the below skills and experience:
- Substantial experience of working in a field related to contextual safeguarding, youth work and youth offending with partners in an inner-city context.
- Experience of undertaking risk assessments, planning, delivering and reviewing interventions to address risky behaviour/promote child welfare/meet social need.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency setting and drawing on the strengths of agencies in the contribution they can make to reduce offending behaviour.
