Pulse are currently recruiting for an HCPC Registered Psychologist to join our client's secure mental health service in the North West of England. This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychologist with experience in mental health, secure services, HCR-20 assessments, risk management, and psychological interventions to work with adult males presenting with complex mental health and forensic needs.
Our client is open to applicants from Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologists provided you have experience delivering psychological assessments and interventions within adult mental health and forensic environments. The role offers the opportunity to work with a varied and complex caseload, contribute to service development projects, and play a key role in the ongoing delivery of high-quality psychological care.
This position would suit a Psychologist looking to further develop their expertise in forensic practice while working within a supportive and experienced Psychology department.
Responsibilities
As a Registered Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering evidence-based 1:1 psychological interventions to adult male service users.
- Undertaking comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations.
- Completing structured professional judgement risk assessments, including HCR-20 assessments.
- Producing high-quality psychological reports and clinical documentation.
- Attending and contributing to CPA meetings, ward rounds, MDT reviews, and risk management discussions.
- Supporting the wider Psychology team with service development initiatives and departmental projects.
- Assisting with outcome measures, audit activity, and clinical governance requirements.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to support positive clinical outcomes.
- Providing consultation and psychological expertise regarding complex and high-risk presentations.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling, Forensic Psychology or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Experience delivering psychological assessments and interventions within adult mental health services.
- Experience working within forensic, secure, inpatient, or related settings.
- Experience undertaking risk assessments and contributing to risk management plans.
- Excellent report-writing, communication, and multidisciplinary working skills.

Desirable
- Chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Experience completing HCR-20 assessments.
- Experience working with adult males presenting with complex mental health needs and offending behaviours.
- Experience contributing to service development, audit, research, or quality improvement initiatives.
