Lenovo Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) Professional Services team is seeking a proactive Power and Cooling (PNC) Service Engineer to oversee water treatment and quality compliance for mission-critical data center secondary cooling water systems, which support Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) to high-performance servers!

This role ensures that all water used in cooling operations meets operational and environmental standards, driving optimal system efficiency and highest reliability. You will be a part of the Power and Cooling team of Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG).

PNC Service Engineer must be knowledgeable in the operation of secondary cooling water systems that support DLC servers, with experience in the critical nature of the quality and compliance requirements of the cooling fluids. You will be trained on Lenovo methodologies and technologies and be expected to frequently travel to customer locations, handling multiple projects concurrently.

Full training will be provided to you, if you have the enthusiasm and drive to grow into the role as a PNC Service Engineer.

This role requires 50% travel.

Your Responsibilities

  • As part of customer-managed services engagement, monitor and manage chemical treatment for secondary cooling water systems for scale inhibition, corrosion control, and biological growth prevention.
  • Conduct quarterly sampling and field testing of water for biological growth, interpret results, and take appropriate action to maintain system compliance as needed.
  • Maintain proper water chemistry to ensure system longevity and performance, energy efficiency, and environmental safety.
  • Establish third-party partnerships with qualified vendors to provide global support for the water quality and compliance efforts.
  • Liaise and work closely with Lenovo lab to effectively monitor and present diagnostics, including recommendations for resolving customer water quality.
  • Evaluate and optimize vendor performance for outsourced water treatment services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the fundamental cooling components of DLC systems and ability to help troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  • Perform other preventative maintenance activities, such as fluid filter replacement, as recommended by manufacturers and Lenovo consultants.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience of working in water quality management or environmental compliance, with additional experience in industrial or data center environments focused on cooling systems or HVAC water treatment.
  • Competent knowledge of Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Water Resources, or a related field.
  • Advantageous - certifications in Certified Water Technologist, OSHA 30, etc.
  • High-performance computing systems knowledge.
  • Expertise in water chemistry for industrial cooling systems.
  • Familiarity with building management systems and water monitoring technologies.
  • Ability to manage contractors and coordinate cross-functional team.
  • Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and ability to drive issues to closure.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and resilient Cloud Services Delivery Director to lead our Agency Tenant Facilities Management (ATFM) cloud operations team. In this role, you will be the driving force overseeing tenant workloads across the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment, with a primary focus on AWS architecture.

You will manage day-to-day cloud operations, drive complex migration roadmaps, and act as the principal custodian of infrastructure security, ensuring strict adherence to Singapore public sector compliance frameworks (e.g., IM8). The ideal candidate has an expert command of AWS, a service-oriented mindset tailored for public sector tenants, and a proven track record of handling high-stakes public sector IT delivery.

Key Responsibilities

ATFM Cloud Operations Service Management

  • GCC Environment Management: Establish, maintain, and supervise highly available, scalable, and resilient AWS infrastructure hosting critical tenant agency applications within the GCC framework.
  • Day-to-Day Operations Support: Lead the ATFM engineering team in simplifying and running routine IT infrastructure operations for various government tenant agencies.
  • Automation Monitoring: Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using automation (e.g., Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC via Terraform or CloudFormation) to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Incident Problem Management: Take accountability for high-severity incident responses, leading swift containment and resolution efforts to minimize disruption to public digital services.
  • Tenant Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end cloud journey for tenant agencies, including resource allocation, continuous performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Services Governance GCC Migration

  • Cloud Readiness Assessment: Lead detailed infrastructure and workload assessments for legacy or on-premises systems shifting to GCC AWS environments.
  • Migration Execution: Develop and drive flawless cloud migration roadmaps, managing resource schedules, timelines, and application onboarding constraints smoothly.
  • Financial Cost Governance: Analyze ongoing cloud spend across tenant agencies, enforcing strict cost optimization and control mechanisms to ensure responsible public fund spending.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with GovTech central teams, tenant agency stakeholders, and auxiliary security teams to align cloud delivery with overarching Whole-of-Government (WOG) digital objectives.

Infrastructure Security Compliance (WOG IM8)

  • IM8 Alignment: Ensure all tenant architectures strictly integrate and comply with Singapore Government IM8 (Instruction Manual 8) policies, CSA guidelines, and public sector data classification requirements.
  • Access Data Protection: Enforce mandatory security controls, prioritizing strict Identity and Access Management (IAM), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), network segmentation, and encryption for data at rest and in transit.
  • Continuous Threat Monitoring: Supervise continuous infrastructure monitoring, leveraging cloud-native tools like AWS GuardDuty and Security Hub to preemptively identify and mitigate zero-day exploits, DDoS risks, and unauthorized access.
  • Audits Vulnerability Management: Direct routine security vulnerability assessments, strict patch management schedules, penetration tests, and compliance audits across tenant environments.
  • Secure Disaster Recovery (DR): Ensure backup architectures are tightly secured and encrypted, and coordinate regular WOG-aligned DR drills to ensure business continuity for critical national applications.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: ~15 years of experience in IT operations, with at least ~10 years in enterprise cloud environments.
  • GovTech/Public Sector Exposure: Proven experience operating within the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment, or a comprehensive understanding of Singapore public sector ICT governance.
  • AWS Technical Depth: Expert architectural and operational knowledge of AWS services, DevOps pipelines, and infrastructure management.
  • Compliance Proficiency: Deep practical familiarity with IM8 controls, MTCS, or equivalent high-compliance security frameworks.
  • Tooling: Proficient with IaC deployment tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and configuration management automation tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet).
  • ITIL (Service Management)

  • Deep understanding of service delivery and security and process governance.
  • Ability to balance operations, security, and business priorities.
  • Exceptional capabilities in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams under high-pressure SLA environments.

  • Relevant specialized certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
  • Certifications in IT service management (e.g., ITILv4).
  • Hands-on experience with GovTech stack platforms such as Container Stack (CStack) or automated policy-as-code deployment engines.
