Working in a team with Gareth Phipps-Williams our Hiring Manager, the Head of Affordable Housing Strategy and Policy will play a critical role in delivering the Government’s ambitions for social and affordable housing. You will be joining our large but friendly team, who are committed to making positive change in how Homes England delivers the Social and Affordable Homes Programme, and meets the challenge of increasing social and council house building.
Gareth is dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, resolving challenges informally wherever possible, and taking an innovative and creative approach. Gareth believes in working in a collaborative way to foster good decision making and problem solving within their team.
This is a rare chance to shape the future of the Social and Affordable Homes Programme in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional team you will ensure efficient and consistent policy advice and decisions. You will have the opportunity to help shape Government policy, supporting the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government with expert advice on the operational impact of policy decisions and supporting Homes England to deliver on new priorities and programmes.
Job Description
You will have the opportunity to help shape the strategy for social and affordable housing delivery, and lead on gathering insights and sentiment from across the sector. This is especially important in your role to lead on policy and delivery for our home ownership and supported housing products.
The role will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects around affordable, social, and council house housing. There are some exciting projects to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions.

Person specification
You'll be comfortable supporting your team with complex policy issues, aiming to bring your knowledge and expertise to solving problems. In order to provide advice, you will have a good understanding of Shared Ownership.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
