Role Description

The Head Brewer is a full-time, on-site role based in Rowrah, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the brewing process from recipe development to final product quality. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Planning and executing brew schedules
  • Monitoring fermentation
  • Managing yeast propagation
  • Ensuring consistent flavor and quality across all ales

The role involves managing ingredients and stock levels, supervising cleaning and maintenance of brewing equipment, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. The Head Brewer will collaborate with the wider team, support the Brewery Tap with product knowledge, and contribute to new product ideas and seasonal brews. This position also requires accurate record-keeping, compliance with relevant regulations, and continuous improvement of brewing processes.

  • Strong knowledge of brewing science and processes, including fermentation, yeast management, and recipe formulation.
  • Experience with brewery operations, such as wort production, quality control, cleaning-in-place (CIP), and equipment maintenance.
  • Salsa & HACCP certification
  • Able to operate Breww Software
  • Understanding of ingredients and supply management, including malt, hops, yeast, and water treatment.
  • Ability to maintain detailed production records and adhere to health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Previous experience in a commercial brewery or relevant brewing qualification (e.g., brewing diploma or certification) is highly beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver multiple brews to schedule.
  • Effective communication and team leadership skills to coordinate with brewery and cafe staff.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks in a brewery environment, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in wet or warm conditions.
  • Passion for craft beer, attention to detail in flavor and consistency, and commitment to using high-quality, natural ingredients.
