Head Chef About us: The Ship Inn sits in a truly stunning location on the banks of Yealm Estuary, complete with riverside beer garden and even its own mooring space! We're a historic village pub and we're looking for top talent to join our friendly team in one of the most idyllic pub settings in the area.

What we look for in a Head Chef:

  • Ability to inspire a team, to bring out the potential and lead by example
  • Experience championing excellent service through quality food either as a Head Chef or in the position of Sous Chef
  • Passion for leading and developing a team
  • Active hands-on team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage the kitchen staff rota, training, and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Creativity to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
  • Great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and labour
  • Proactive approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
