About The Role

If you are a Chef with the understanding how busy kitchen operates then we could have just the role for you.
Are you newly qualified or established in your career and fancy a change? We are currently looking for a Chef to join our new Catering Team at the Practice Plus Hospital Birmingham, and we want to hear from you!
Working 37.5 hours a week, the role is to assist the Head Chef with the management, development and delivery of all aspects of the catering service within the Hospital.
As our Head Chef, you’ll take the lead on delivering an excellent catering service within our hospital. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your ideas to the table, creating interesting menus while ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation and service. You’ll also play a key role in leading and developing the catering team and ensuring the service operates efficiently and within budget.
What you'll be doing
We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of and can insure that systems are in place so that all staff are aware and can work in accordance with legislation and Company policies pertaining to Health and Safety, COSHH and infection control;

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll lead and motivate the catering team while working alongside them to prepare and produce meals. You’ll plan workloads and staffing, manage stock and minimise food waste, as well as developing menus that cater for special dietary requirements. You’ll ensure the kitchen maintains excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, health and safety and infection control, while looking for opportunities to continually improve the quality of the service.

What we'll look for in you
You’ll bring previous experience of delivering excellent customer service and supervising or managing a team, together with a good understanding of health and safety within a hospitality environment. You’ll have a Basic Food Safety and Hygiene Award (or equivalent) and CIEH Level 3 (or equivalent), or be scheduled to complete these. You’ll be a confident communicator and supportive leader who is flexible, customer-focused and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Hospitality qualifications and previous healthcare experience would be advantageous.
