Are you ready to take the kitchen reins at one of Worthing's much-loved pubs?
Welcome to The Thieves' Kitchen – a proper pub with plenty of character, a great local following and a whole lot going on.
Dating back to the 1800s, The Thieves' Kitchen is a family-friendly pub in the heart of Worthing, bringing together hearty pub food, live sport, entertainment and a great social atmosphere. From Sunday roasts and family meals to match days, karaoke, interactive darts and nights out with friends, there is always something happening here.
We're now looking for a Head Chef who can take ownership of our kitchen and help us deliver great food consistently, while developing a team who are proud of what they do.
Job Description
What you'll be doing
As Head Chef, you'll be at the heart of the kitchen, leading from the front and making sure every plate leaving The Thieves' Kitchen is something to be proud of.
You'll:
- Lead, coach and develop the kitchen team, creating a positive and motivated kitchen culture.
- Take ownership of food quality, consistency, presentation and kitchen standards.
- Manage kitchen operations effectively, from stock and ordering through to food safety and GP.
- Work closely with the General Manager to drive the food offer and deliver great results.
- Bring energy and ideas to the kitchen, helping us make the most of our food offer and busy occasions.
- Keep your team engaged and organised through busy services, from family dining and Sunday roasts to match days and social events.

What we're looking for
We're looking for a confident and passionate Head Chef who knows how to run a busy kitchen and, more importantly, knows how to bring a team with them.
You'll be someone who:
- Has experience leading a kitchen team in a busy pub, restaurant or similar environment.
- Takes real pride in food quality and consistency.
- Understands the commercial side of running a kitchen, including GP, labour and stock control.
- Is a strong people leader who enjoys coaching and developing others.
- Can stay calm, organised and positive when the kitchen gets busy.
- Wants to be part of the local community and make The Thieves' Kitchen a destination for great food and great times.
