👨‍🍳 Ready to take the lead? If you're a Head Chef who loves a busy kitchen, takes pride in great food and knows how to bring a team together, we’ve got an opportunity for you at the Wheatpieces in Tewkesbury. We’re looking for someone who isn't afraid to get stuck in, lead from the front and make the kitchen their own. The Wheatpieces is a popular community pub serving up proper pub favourites, generous portions and great-value food. With everything from steaks and stacked burgers to daily deals, live sport and a great beer garden, there’s plenty happening here – and we want our kitchen to be at the heart of it.

🍻 Why the Wheatpieces? Located in Walton Cardiff, just over a mile from Tewkesbury town centre, the Wheatpieces is a well-established community pub with plenty going on. From live sport on Sky Sports and TNT Sports to a great beer garden, daily food deals and a menu packed with pub favourites, this is a kitchen that keeps busy and has a loyal customer base. Job Description

🔥 What's the opportunity? As our Head Chef, you'll take ownership of the kitchen and play a key role in driving the success of the pub. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead from the front, setting the standard for food quality, presentation and service.
  • Build, coach and develop a strong kitchen team.
  • Bring energy and passion to every service, especially when things get busy.
  • Keep standards high while making sure the kitchen remains a positive place to work.
  • Take ownership of kitchen performance, from food quality and consistency through to stock and waste control.
  • Work closely with the General Manager to drive the success of the pub.
  • Help create food that keeps our customers coming back for more.

Qualifications

👊 What we're looking for We're not looking for a chef who simply wants to tick boxes. We're looking for someone who cares about their kitchen, their food and their people. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or experienced Sous Chef ready for their next step.
  • Experience running a busy kitchen and leading a team through a fast-paced service.
  • A genuine passion for food and delivering consistently great dishes.
  • The confidence to make decisions and take ownership.
  • The ability to coach, motivate and get the best out of your team.
  • High standards around food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance.
  • A positive, hands-on approach – you'll be happy getting stuck in when the kitchen needs you.
