Role Description

The Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at The Angel Narberth in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. This position oversees all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation to maintain high culinary standards. The Head Chef leads and trains the kitchen team, manages stock levels, controls food costs, and ensures compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The Head Chef is also expected to support a positive, inclusive work environment and deliver a consistently high-quality guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a busy pub, restaurant, or hotel kitchen.
  • Strong culinary skills, including menu development, plating, and working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Leadership and team management abilities, including training, scheduling, and performance oversight.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle high-volume service.
  • Experience managing stock, ordering, and food cost control to support profitable operations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
  • Culinary qualifications or formal chef training are highly beneficial.
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering a high-quality, guest-focused dining experience.
