Company Description

Standing proud on Tenison Road and just 5 minutes walk from the train station; I’d guess you’d call us one big happy family who are always here when you want a drink or a bite to eat. The Salisbury Arms is a neighbourhood hangout serving up freshly made artisan pizzas, bubbling pots of comfort food and seriously tasty beers!

Position

This position is the most prominent and important role in the kitchen. As Head Chef, it is essential that you are able to maintain complete control of the kitchen at all times and command the respect of your kitchen staff and that of the floor staff and appropriate managers. You must be able to spot and resolve problems efficiently, maintain calm level headedness and delegate many kitchen tasks simultaneously.

  • Maximising the productivity of the kitchen staff through effective management and delegation.
  • Managing and communicating well with your sous chef and senior pizza chefs to ensure the highest standards continue throughout the kitchen, particularly in your absence during days off or holidays.
  • Having significant involvement during management meetings and the continuing development of the Pizza, Pots and Pints concept.
  • Setting a very high bar through example for impeccable personal hygiene, high work and safety standards including food hygiene and due diligence procedures.
  • Responsibly seizing control of situations or problems that may arise at any moment and calmly applying the relevant action to address any issue.
  • Managing underperforming staff members as well as providing incentives for staff members to go above and beyond the expectations of their particular chef roles.
  • Productively and pro-actively train and mentor junior chefs by drawing as much intrigue and passion from them as you can and pushing them to constantly improve.
  • Outside of the kitchen, take responsibility for, or effectively delegate the kitchen due diligence procedures including; HACCP; COSHH; food wastage and staff rotas.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
