About Hillingdon United FC
Hillingdon United FC is an ambitious developing football club based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. We currently compete in the Middlesex County Football League and are building a structured football programme focused on player development, high standards, strong leadership, and long-term progression.
As the club continues to strengthen both its playing squad and football structure, we are now looking to appoint a Head Coach for our Men’s First Team.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious coach to take genuine ownership of the first-team coaching programme and play an important role in shaping the club’s football identity.
The Role
The Head Coach will work closely with the Director of Football and will take primary responsibility for the planning and delivery of the first-team coaching programme.
The successful candidate will lead the technical and tactical development of the squad, establish high standards on the training ground, and help translate the club’s playing philosophy into effective performances on matchdays.
This role would particularly suit a coach who wants meaningful responsibility within a senior men’s football environment and an opportunity to develop alongside an ambitious growing club.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver structured, progressive, and high-quality training sessions.
- Lead the technical and tactical development of the playing squad.
- Develop the team’s understanding of the club’s playing philosophy and game model.
- Improve positional understanding, decision-making, communication, and game intelligence.
- Coach the team’s organisation both in and out of possession.
- Develop attacking, defensive, and transitional principles.
- Plan and deliver work around set pieces and match-specific tactical preparation.
- Work closely with the Team Manager on match preparation and overall team performance.
- Provide individual coaching, feedback, and development support to players.
- Help identify areas of improvement within both individual and team performance.
- Coordinate and provide direction to other members of the first-team coaching staff.
- Contribute to player assessment, development discussions, and football planning.
- Help create a competitive, accountable, and positive first-team environment.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, behaviour, safeguarding, and club conduct.
- Attend Wednesday evening training sessions and Sunday morning fixtures consistently.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident leading and coaching adult players.
- Able to command respect while building strong relationships with players and staff.
- Organised, reliable, and capable of taking ownership of a coaching programme.
- Technically and tactically knowledgeable.
- Able to explain football concepts clearly and practically.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with the Team Manager and wider football staff.
- Passionate about developing players individually and collectively.
- Ambitious and interested in helping build a developing football programme.
- Committed to maintaining high standards both on and off the pitch.
Experience within senior adult football, academy football, university football, or a competitive player-development environment would be beneficial.
An FA Level 2/UEFA C Licence or above is desirable, although we are also open to applications from experienced coaches currently working towards recognised coaching qualifications.

Club Structure
The Head Coach will work closely with the club’s:
- Team Manager / Director of Football
- First-Team Coach
- Fitness & Performance Coach
- Data & Performance support
- Wider football and matchday staff
The Team Manager retains responsibility for overall team leadership, squad management, and the wider football direction, while the Head Coach will have significant ownership of the first-team coaching and player-development programme.

Commitment
Training currently takes place on Wednesday evenings in West London, with league and cup fixtures primarily played on Sunday mornings.
Consistent availability is important due to the level of responsibility attached to the position.
This is currently a voluntary position.
