Exciting Head Dental Nurse Position - Dental Beauty Islington
Full Time Position - £17-18 P/H + Bonus
Office Based, Senior Management Position

Dental Beauty Partners are currently seeking a Head Dental Nurse to join us at Dental Beauty Islington. Our Islington practice is a unique 18 surgery practice which offers all forms of NHS, Private & Specialist Dentistry on site. The practice is located on the lovely Upper Street in Islington, walking distance from both Angel and Highbury & Islington stations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our nursing team in a purely non-chairside capacity, ensuring you'll have the capacity to make an impact in the practice whilst leading our Nursing team. Dental Beauty Islington is led by three Clinical Partners, and our very experienced Practice Manager, Steph who all work together in harmony to deliver a brilliant patient journey. You will also be working alongside an Assistant Manager & a Treatment Coordinator, meaning there is a lot of senior management support.

We are looking for a candidate to join us on a full-time basis. Our Practice is open 8-8 Monday-Thursday, 8.30-5.30 on Fridays, & Saturdays. You would be contracted to 40 hours P/W amongst these opening times.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, support, and guidance to the nursing team
  • Team coordination to ensure smooth and efficient running of the practice
  • Acting as the first point of contact for team related queries, performance issues, or operational concerns
  • Escalating persistent issues or challenges during the weekly Monday meeting with the Partners and Practice Manager
  • Induct, train and support new or trainee nurses, ensuring they understand practice standards and infection control protocols
  • Supervising team performance and escalate any ongoing performance concerns. Carrying out 1 to 1 performance meeting with nurses
  • Conducting regular team meetings to update on protocols, training, and practice improvements

Compliance Duties:

  • Ensure the practice meets CQC, GDC and other regulatory standards
  • Maintain and monitor Agilio Compliance - this responsibility is limited to equipment and infection control-related compliance only. The tasks will be assigned in Agilio
  • Conduct and documenting infection control audits, equipment checks, repairs & services, surgery spot checks, radiation protection, infection control, emergency drug checks
  • Legionella Management
  • Quarterly dip slides and documentation
  • Dental waterline maintenance

Stock and Equipment:

  • Managing stock levels, order dental materials and equipment, and oversee inventory control with the support of a designated nurse
  • Checking prices and gather quotes for various purchases like stock, equipment or other devices
  • Maintain up-to-date logs for whitening products, botox, endodontic files, implants, periostick and other requested materials
  • Overseeing maintenance and servicing of equipment including X-ray machines, suction pumps, dental chair, handpieces, and other key devices

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We are welcoming applications from candidates with a variety of different levels of experience, we are open to considering a current Head Nurse, or an experienced nurse with strong clinical knowledge who is looking to take the next step in their career to move away from chairside nursing & lead a team & department

  • GDC Registration is a requirement for this position
  • Prior compliance lead experience in practice is highly advantageous for this role
  • Experience supporting a variety of general, cosmetic & restorative dental treatment is also advantageous
  • Dentally software experience is preferred but not essential
