We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated Head Greenkeeper to join our dedicated course team.

Reporting directly to the Course Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal leadership role in maintaining and continually enhancing the presentation and conditioning of our renowned golf course. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious greenkeeper looking to further develop their career at one of the country's most respected golf clubs.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring excellent turf management knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a passion for producing outstanding playing conditions throughout the year.

Working closely with the Course Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day management of the greenkeeping team and contribute to the planning, organization, and delivery of all course maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • The daily management, supervision, and motivation of the greenkeeping team
  • Help deliver consistently high standards of course presentation and playing surfaces
  • Carry out and oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance
  • Operate, maintain, and promote the safe use of modern turf maintenance machinery and equipment
  • Support staff training, mentoring, and professional development
  • Assist with irrigation, fertiliser, and plant protection programmes
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Support ongoing course improvement projects and long-term development plans
  • Deputise for the Course Manager during periods of absence

The Ideal Candidate

The Successful Applicant Will

  • Have previous greenkeeping experience, ideally within a supervisory or senior greenkeeper role
  • Possess excellent practical turf management knowledge
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Be self-motivated with a positive, professional, and proactive attitude
  • Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in producing exceptional course conditions
  • Hold NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Sports Turf Management (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Hold PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable but not essential)
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
