Who Are We Looking For?

As Head Host, you will take responsibility for overseeing and supporting the host team, ensuring consistently high standards of welcome, communication and guest experience throughout Penningtons. You will lead by example, coordinating the host team, managing daily priorities and working closely with the floor and management teams to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant.

You will also support the training and development of hosts, ensuring all team members are confident in reservations, guest engagement, service standards and hospitality systems, while maintaining a positive, warm and collaborative team environment.

Hosts in Penningtons are passionate about all people, as well as warm hospitality with an attention to detail, they have knowledge of service, food and drinks and an understanding of what make a fantastic restaurant experience.

They will have experience in hospitality and be familiar with a restaurant environment, knowledge of a booking system is important and are comfortable both working on the restaurant floor and dealing with emails and phone calls.

The Head Host role encompasses elements from reception, reservations, function planning and revenue/sales.

What Are The Key Responsibilities?

  • Guest Interaction and Repeat Business built on trust and experiences.
  • Service Standards of the Highest Quality in relation to our offering.
  • Providing the welcome to guests ensuring all details regarding reservations are accurate and communicating the flow of guests to floor team and managers.
  • Receive and input reservations via telephone and email and field all incoming and outgoing communication in Penningtons.
  • Responsible for the safe delivery of food and drink, the correct conduct in relation to allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Working with all teams within the Hotel, to ensure all staff and guests receive warmth and generosity.
  • Work alongside our marketing team where promotions, functions or seasonal events require.
  • Comfortable using or learning standard hospitality systems such as SevenRooms, OpenTable, Excel, Word, Property management systems and voucher redemption portals.
  • Elevate the guest experience through with a curious and creative approach to make a experience memorable.
  • Building profiles on guest based on their preferences to elevate future experiences building genuine rapport.
