Hello Margate

We’re now recruiting for a Head Housekeeper at No.42 Margate by GuestHouse.

Do you run a tight ship and believe there’s no such thing as “clean enough”? Can you spot a wonky cushion from across the room, know exactly when the linen cupboard needs a top-up, and somehow make a team of people move like a well-oiled machine? If so, we’d love to meet you.

No.42 Margate is a small but stylish, family-run boutique hotel, and we’re looking for a Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping operation. You’ll be equal parts leader, organiser, perfectionist and behind-the-scenes legend — making sure every room, corridor and guest space is looking its absolute best.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead, motivate and inspire the housekeeping team to deliver consistently high standards.
  • Take overall responsibility for the cleanliness and presentation of the hotel and guest bedrooms.
  • Carry out regular room and public area checks, with an eagle eye for the details that make all the difference.
  • Plan rotas, allocate workloads and ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
  • Manage linen, cleaning products and housekeeping stock, keeping everything organised and cost-effective.
  • Train, coach and develop team members, making sure everyone understands our standards and takes pride in what they do.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Maintenance and other departments to make sure guest requests and room issues are dealt with quickly.
  • Monitor housekeeping standards and guest feedback, continually looking for ways to make things even better.
  • Be hands-on when needed — because sometimes the best leaders are the ones who aren’t afraid to pick up a cloth and get stuck in.
  • Help create a housekeeping environment that is friendly, supportive, well organised and just a little bit obsessed with getting the details right.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
