About Larchwood Care Home
Larchwood Care Home is a warm and welcoming care home located in Braintree, Essex. Providing residential, dementia and respite care, the home offers a comfortable and supportive environment where Residents can enjoy their own routines, interests and independence. With en suite bedrooms, a café, sensory garden, on site hair salon and a varied activities programme, colleagues work together to deliver high quality, person centred care and make a real difference to the lives of Residents every day.
Head Housekeeper Contract
- Pay: £15.80 to £16.15 per hour
- Hours: Contracted to 44 hours per week
- Benefits: Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
- Leave: 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)
Role Overview
As Head Housekeeper, you will take overall responsibility for the cleanliness, presentation and organisation of the home, ensuring a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment is maintained at all times. This is a key leadership role where your standards and attention to detail will directly impact daily life and overall experience.
You will lead and manage the housekeeping team, overseeing the cleaning of residents’ rooms, bathrooms and all communal areas to ensure consistently high standards of hygiene and presentation. You will coordinate daily operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and in line with infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures.

Working closely with other departments, you will ensure a well organised and responsive service. You will monitor quality, manage supplies and support your team through training, guidance and leadership, creating a positive and high performing environment.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in a housekeeping or supervisory role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Good understanding of cleaning standards, hygiene and infection control
- Ability to manage workload, priorities and team performance
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
