An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Accounting to join a market-leading UK business with a national footprint and a strong reputation within its sector based in Leicester - Hybrid working.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead the accounting and financial control function, ensuring robust governance, accurate financial reporting, and the delivery of best-in-class financial processes across the organisation.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a technically strong accountant who can balance strategic thinking with operational excellence while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial accounting, reporting and control function.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Manage statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit process.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continual improvement of financial controls, processes and governance.
- Lead cash flow, balance sheet and working capital management.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
- Manage external relationships including auditors, banks and advisers.
- Develop, coach and mentor a large finance team.
- Support strategic projects, systems improvements and business transformation initiatives.
- Ensure accurate VAT, tax and compliance reporting across the business.

About You

- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Proven experience in a Head of Accounting, Group Financial Controller, Head of Financial Control or similar senior finance leadership role.
- Strong technical accounting and statutory reporting expertise.
- Experience leading sizeable finance teams within a complex multi-site environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to support business decision-making.
- Experience of driving process improvement and finance transformation projects.
- Strong systems and ERP experience.
