Head of Acquisitions - York
Fortus are a fast-growing professional accountancy and advisory practice providing financial services and advice to businesses in Yorkshire. A founder led business with its headquarters in York, Fortus offer multiple services from audit and business advisory services to tax and wealth management.
The business has recently been invested in by LDC Private Equity and to meet their growth ambitions the leadership team are keen to accelerate their acquisition activity and bring more small accountancy practices into the Fortus business.
To support this growth Fortus are looking to recruit a Head of Acquisitions to drive the delivery of the acquisition strategy from supporting the CEO in the origination work whilst personally primarily focusing on the process from heads of terms through to deal completion. - Evaluating potential merger and acquisition opportunities
- Supervising and managing due diligence processes
- Supporting commercial negotiations to secure Heads of terms and binding contractual agreements with interested parties
- Working with the firm’s leadership team and PMO to ensure the successful integration of acquired entities into the firm
- Managing and sequencing a pipeline and portfolio of multiple simultaneous opportunities.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Accountant with a proven track record in mergers and acquisitions. You will need to be highly analytical, have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and be capable of seeing projects through to their completion.

You will need to be an effective independent worker whilst also being able to collaborate with cross functional teams and external advisors. Clearly a strong commercial mindset is essential, being able to manage deal structures, negotiations, commercial contracts with exceptional attention to detail.
This role is open to someone working in an advisory role, probably at Manager grade or similar, who would be interested in moving to an in house role or someone already working in house.
Additionally, you will be able to operate to the standards required in a PE backed and externally regulated business in line with the company values of spirit, teamwork and growth.
