Head of Actuarial AI (Practice Lead) – Principal
Location: London
Level: Principal

Miryco Consultants is working with a leading global management consultancy that is looking to appoint a senior Actuarial AI leader to help shape and deliver its AI proposition across the actuarial and insurance markets.
This is a unique opportunity for a qualified actuary who has transitioned into AI, combining deep technical knowledge of the end-to-end actuarial workflow with expertise in artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and technology-driven transformation.
The successful candidate will operate at Principal level, helping clients identify where AI can create meaningful value across actuarial processes, while leading the development and implementation of innovative solutions that transform how actuarial work is delivered.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, client-facing leadership role at the intersection of actuarial expertise, AI and consulting. You will help organisations move beyond experimentation and embed AI into practical, scalable solutions across the actuarial lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development and delivery of the firm's Actuarial AI proposition, identifying opportunities to apply AI across the insurance and actuarial value chain.
- Work with clients to understand the end-to-end actuarial workflow, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and decision-making through AI.
- Translate complex actuarial requirements into practical AI use cases, solutions and implementation roadmaps.
- Identify opportunities across areas such as pricing, reserving, capital modelling, risk management, forecasting, reporting and actuarial data analysis.
- Advise senior client stakeholders on AI strategy, adoption and the transformation of actuarial processes.
- Lead client engagements from initial opportunity identification through to solution design, implementation and adoption.
- Work closely with data scientists, AI specialists, engineers and actuarial professionals to develop and implement solutions.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and assess their potential application across actuarial activities.
- Address the governance, validation, explainability and risk considerations associated with applying AI in regulated insurance environments.
- Support business development, develop senior client relationships and contribute to the growth of the Actuarial AI practice.
- Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration between actuarial and technology specialists.

About You
We are looking for an established actuarial professional who combines strong actuarial credentials with demonstrable experience of moving into AI and technology-led transformation. Ideally, you will have:
- Full actuarial qualification and a strong understanding of the insurance market.
- Detailed knowledge of the end-to-end actuarial workflow, including how actuarial processes, models, data and outputs fit together.
- Experience applying AI, machine learning or advanced analytics to actuarial or insurance-related challenges.
- A track record of moving beyond traditional actuarial work into AI, data science, AI-enabled products or technology transformation.
- The ability to bridge the gap between actuarial business requirements and technical AI capabilities.
- Experience designing, developing or implementing AI solutions in a commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of the opportunities and limitations of AI in regulated financial services.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with senior executives and technical specialists.
- Experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities and translate them into client propositions.
- A consulting mindset, with the ability to manage client relationships, lead engagements and contribute to business development.
