Head of Administration & Workplace
Central London | Circa £150,000 | 5 Days Office-Based
We’re recruiting a Head of Administration & Workplace to lead a broad and business-critical support function within a highly successful organisation in Central London.
This is a substantial leadership role with responsibility for the people, services and infrastructure behind an exceptional working environment. You’ll lead across administration, workplace and facilities, ensuring the function operates to consistently high standards while continuing to evolve in line with the needs of the business.
The remit is broad and requires someone with genuine operational depth, strong commercial judgement and a clear understanding of what excellent service looks like. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, while remaining sufficiently connected to the day-to-day operation to know where things are working well, where standards can be raised and where change is needed.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. You’ll set the direction and expectations for the function, develop the people within it and ensure both internal teams and external partners deliver an outstanding level of service.
The Role
- Lead the administration, workplace and facilities function, with overall responsibility for standards, performance and service delivery.
- Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating clear accountability and a strong, service-led culture.
- Shape the ongoing development of the function, ensuring its structure and services remain aligned with the needs of the business.
- Oversee key suppliers and service partners, with responsibility for performance, contracts and commercial relationships.
- Own budgets and expenditure across the function, balancing exceptional service with appropriate commercial discipline.
- Partner with senior stakeholders on workplace requirements, operational priorities and wider business projects.
- Ensure the working environment and associated services operate seamlessly and deliver an exceptional experience for employees and visitors.
- Maintain appropriate standards across compliance, health & safety, security and operational resilience.
- Lead workplace projects and improvements from initial planning through to delivery.
- Review processes, suppliers and service models to identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and consistency.
- Provide senior leadership with clear insight, reporting and recommendations.
- Ensure the function is appropriately structured, resourced and equipped to support the business as it evolves.

About You
- You’ll have significant leadership experience across workplace, facilities, administration, office operations or a similarly broad corporate services function.
- You’ll be used to taking ownership of a complex, high-quality working environment and leading both people and services to a consistently high standard. Alongside your operational experience, you’ll bring the commercial judgement and credibility required to operate effectively with senior stakeholders.

You’ll bring:
- Significant experience leading multidisciplinary workplace, administration or corporate services teams.
- A strong track record of developing people, setting expectations and driving performance.
- Commercial capability across budgets, contracts, procurement and supplier management.
- Experience overseeing multiple external partners and holding suppliers accountable for service delivery.
- A track record of delivering workplace projects and meaningful operational improvements.
- Confidence working with senior leadership and communicating clearly at that level.
- High standards and a genuine hospitality and service mindset.
- The ability to balance strategic oversight with a strong understanding of operational detail.
- Sound judgement, discretion and resilience within a fast-moving, high-expectation environment.
- A pragmatic approach and the confidence to challenge existing ways of working where something could be done better.
We’re open-minded on sector and educational background. Depth of experience, leadership capability and evidence of having successfully led a high-quality workplace and support function will matter far more than a particular route into the role.
