Head of Administration & Workplace
Central London | Circa £150,000 | 5 Days Office-Based
We’re recruiting a Head of Administration & Workplace to lead a significant, business-critical support function within a highly successful organisation in Central London.
This is a senior leadership role with broad responsibility for the people, services and infrastructure that underpin the day-to-day working environment. Leading across administration, workplace and facilities, you’ll set the standards for the function, ensure consistently excellent delivery and shape how it develops as the business continues to evolve.
The remit requires genuine operational depth. You’ll need to understand how an exceptional workplace functions at every level – from people and service standards through to suppliers, budgets, infrastructure, risk and the detail of day-to-day delivery.
Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll bring sound commercial judgement, credibility and the confidence to make decisions. Equally, you’ll remain connected enough to the operation to know what is working, where standards are slipping and where something could be done better.
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to lead from a distance. You’ll set direction and expectations, develop the people around you and create clear accountability across both internal teams and external partners.
The Role
- Lead the administration, workplace and facilities function, with overall responsibility for people, performance, standards and service delivery
- Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating clear accountability and a strong service culture
- Shape the structure and ongoing development of the function to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the business
- Oversee key suppliers and service partners, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for performance
- Own budgets and expenditure across the function, combining high service standards with strong commercial discipline
- Partner with senior stakeholders on workplace requirements, operational priorities and wider business initiatives
- Ensure the working environment and associated services operate seamlessly for employees and visitors
- Maintain robust standards across compliance, health & safety, security and operational resilience
- Lead workplace projects and improvements from initial thinking and planning through to successful delivery
- Continually assess processes, suppliers and service models, identifying where quality, efficiency or consistency can be improved
- Provide senior leadership with clear insight, recommendations and appropriate reporting
- Ensure the function has the right people, resources and infrastructure to support the organisation effectively

About You
You’ll have significant leadership experience across workplace, facilities, administration, office operations or a similarly broad corporate services function.
You’ll have operated in an environment where expectations are high and details matter. You’ll know how to lead and develop people, manage complex services and suppliers, make commercially sound decisions and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
Importantly, you’ll combine strategic thinking with operational instinct. You won’t need to personally own every detail, but you’ll understand the detail well enough to ask the right questions, recognise when something isn’t working and ensure it gets addressed.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience leading multidisciplinary workplace, administration or corporate services teams
- A strong track record of developing people, setting expectations and driving performance
- Commercial capability across budgets, contracts, procurement and supplier management
- Experience managing multiple external partners and holding them accountable for delivery
- Evidence of successfully delivering workplace projects and operational improvements
- Confidence working closely with senior leadership and communicating effectively at that level
- High standards and a genuine service and hospitality mindset
- The ability to balance strategic oversight with a strong grasp of operational detail
- Sound judgement, discretion and resilience within a fast-moving, high-expectation environment
- A pragmatic approach and the confidence to challenge established ways of working when there is a better solution
