Head of Advancement Data
UCL has launched Here, it will happen, the biggest philanthropic and engagement campaign in its history, timed with our bicentenary. Its goal is to fund work on global health, societal, climate and education challenges over UCL's next 200 years.
Campaigns of that scale depend on good data. We're looking for a Head of Advancement Data to lead the strategy, governance and development of the data and technology behind our fundraising and alumni engagement.
About the Role
As our Head of Advancement Data, you'll shape how Advancement uses data and technology, and have a real say in where we go next. Day to day, you'll:
- Set the direction for our data and systems strategy, working closely with leaders across fundraising, alumni relations and operations
- Look after our CRM and the wider technology around it, from integrations to new tools worth exploring
- Build a data governance framework people actually understand and use, covering ownership, quality and GDPR
- Run the Advancement Data support service and keep making it better for the colleagues who rely on it
- Lead, coach and grow a talented team
It's a role where your decisions will directly shape how well we can support donors, alumni and the causes they care about.

About You
You're someone who's comfortable at both the strategic and the technical level. We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience setting and delivering a data, systems or technology strategy
- Deep knowledge of large CRM systems and datasets, including API integrations
- A strong grasp of databases, data architecture and SQL
- Experience putting data governance into practice, with a good understanding of GDPR
- The ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical people and bring senior stakeholders with you
- Experience leading and motivating a team
Experience with Blackbaud CRM or Power BI, or a background in higher education or the charity sector, would be a bonus. If you don't tick every box, please apply anyway. We'd rather hear from you than miss out.
