de Mellow & Co is a family-run financial planning business, established in 1990 and based in Hambledon, Hampshire.
We provide financial advice to individuals, families and businesses, with a focus on building long-term relationships and helping our clients feel confident about their finances and their future.
Our approach is personal and straightforward - we care about doing a good job for our clients, but also about creating a business where people enjoy working together and have the opportunity to develop.
As the business continues to grow, we are now looking for a Head of Adviser Development to join the team.
Role Description
The Head of Adviser Development is a new role at de Mellow & Co, created as we continue to grow and invest in our people.
Working closely with our financial planners and leadership team, you will lead our approach to adviser development, providing coaching and support and helping us maintain the high standards we expect across the business.
You will bring structure and consistency to professional development, while recognising that people have different strengths, experience and ways of working. A key part of the role will be building strong relationships, understanding what helps people perform at their best and creating opportunities for learning and development across the team.

You will also play an important role in the continued development of our Financial Planner Academy, supporting the next generation as they build their knowledge, experience and confidence.
This is a senior, people-focused role that sits at the heart of our plans for the future. You will work closely with the Managing Director, Operations Director and wider team, bringing together people development, good client outcomes and the continued growth of the business.
We are looking for someone who is an experienced coach, enjoys working with people and is comfortable providing both support and constructive challenge. Just as importantly, we want someone whose approach fits our values of driven, committed and collaborative.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in coaching, learning and development, talent development or a similar people-focused role.
- A track record of helping people make meaningful and lasting improvements to their performance.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with experienced professionals.
- Confidence to give clear and constructive feedback and to have more difficult conversations when needed.
- The ability to adapt your coaching style to different personalities, strengths and development needs.
- Commercial awareness and confidence using performance information to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience developing structured coaching, development or talent programmes.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work well across different areas of a business.
- Good judgement and the ability to balance support with appropriate challenge and accountability.

Experience in financial services or professional services would be helpful, but it isn't essential.
You also do not need to have been a financial adviser - we already have strong technical financial planning expertise within the business. For this role, we are primarily looking for someone who is very good at coaching and developing people.
