This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the entire software development lifecycle and the teams that deliver it, from initial business requirements and product definition through project management, business analysis, UI/UX, software engineering, QA, testing, deployment and continuous improvement.
You will directly lead the functions involved in software delivery, including Project Management, Product Ownership, Business Analysis, UI/UX, Software Engineering, QA, Testing, DevOps and related technology teams. The role combines people leadership, product and software delivery, organisational development, stakeholder management, AI innovation and technology strategy. You will be accountable for ensuring that our teams are structured effectively, that our products are delivered to a consistently high standard and that the organisation continues to evolve alongside developments in AI and the wider technology market.
Key Responsibilities
Software Delivery & Portfolio Leadership:
- Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle across multiple ventures and products.
- Manage the teams responsible for requirements, planning, product definition, UI/UX, development, QA, testing, deployment and continuous improvement.
- Maintain clear visibility across roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery commitments.
- Ensure software delivery remains aligned with business priorities, stakeholder expectations and commercial objectives.
- Identify delivery issues early and take corrective action where projects, teams or individuals are falling behind expectations.
- Ensure multiple products and ventures can progress simultaneously without compromising quality or accountability.
People & Organisational Leadership:
- Lead and manage the overall software delivery organisation.
- Review and reshape team structures as the portfolio and business continue to grow.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability and responsibilities across all functions.
- Develop managers and senior team members and ensure appropriate leadership exists within each area.
- Identify capability, performance and communication issues and address them effectively.
- Build a culture focused on ownership, collaboration, high standards and continuous improvement.
Recruitment & Talent Development:
- Own workforce planning across the software organisation.
- Identify current and future capability gaps and define recruitment requirements.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition throughout the hiring process.
- Take an active role in recruiting key and senior positions.
- Ensure hiring decisions consider communication, ownership, judgement and teamwork alongside role-specific expertise.
- Identify training and development requirements across teams.
- Develop or coordinate appropriate learning programmes to ensure teams remain current with evolving technologies, AI capabilities and software delivery practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
