Head of Artificial Intelligence Global Quality & Accreditation
Location: Global Homebased, travel required
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity become available for the Head of AI Global Quality & Accreditation. The purpose of this role will be to:
- Lead BSI’s efforts in Developing Conformity Assessment Activity to allow manufacturers and providers to demonstrate that their technology conforms to the provisions of the evolving EU AI Regulations
- Be the ambassador representing BSI as a global leader in key AI Technical Forums in Europe and Globally as an industry leading expert regulator.
- Ensure that NB personnel work consistently at the required high level of expertise and rigour
- Ensure that BSI has the relevant policies, procedures and documentation are in place to meet all AI regulatory obligations
- Work with the GRC team on competence qualifications, personal development and certificate decision making. This responsibility will involve the application of personal authority and expertise rather than hierarchical position.
- Shape & define BSI Group business plan for AI and Machine Learning in the regulatory space, working alongside Marketing and the innovations Team to identify and quantify opportunities in high risk areas with mandated regulation.
Possible Focus areas may include:
- Medical Devices / In vitro Diagnostic Devices
- Real time/remote biometric identification
- Equipment and protective systems for use in explosive atmospheres
- Radio equipment
- Pressure equipment
- Appliances burning gaseous fuels
- Road traffic, supply of water, gas, heating, and electricity
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Designation activity to obtain AI Notified Body Status within the EU in the targeted areas and lead on regulatory issues, both internal and external.
- Lead the development and implementation of the necessary processes and procedures that enable staff to comply with the EU AI Regulation and associated Notified Body designation and accreditation requirements.
- Work with the GRC Professional Development team to establish qualification criteria for all roles.
- Lead your team to ensure staff comply with the new AI NB’s processes and procedures working with the GRC Professional Development group.
- Lead your team in providing expert regulatory support for the wider team (Group) and to customers.
- Mentor and Support NL Team with Designating Authority (TBC).
- Support the UK Approved Body and other International Regulatory programs.
- Identify the opportunities for business process improvement.
- Keep the Certification Process output consistent working with C&R, Operations, and Professional Development to support all operational teams.

To Be Successful in the Role You Will Have:
- BSc degree in discipline relevant to AI and or from a target industry sector. Postgraduate qualification in AI & or Machine learning Technology and or a Regulatory Affairs background would be advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of existing and proposed AI regulations worldwide and particularly the EU AI regulatory approach.
- Knowledge of business processes and the application of quality management standards
- A team player good at relationship building internally and externally
- Broad technical understanding of focal area industry products
- Conceptual and analytical thinking, efficiency, and results orientation
- General knowledge of business principles and operating practices (commercial awareness)
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation and input to policy
- People leadership / influencing skills
- Good interpersonal skills, particularly communication and influencing skills
- Capable of operating with horizontal and vertical reporting lines

The salary for Netherlands can range from €96,000-120,000 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons. As this role can be based homebased globally across EMEA your recruiter can advise of salary for the country you are based.
