Head of AI - London | Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

A leading global financial services organisation is looking for a Head of AI to lead its AI strategy, innovation and transformation across the business. This is a newly created executive-level opportunity, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership, technology and innovation teams.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s AI strategy, embedding AI across investment research, client experience and operational efficiency. You’ll combine strategic leadership with technical expertise to drive responsible AI adoption, build high-performing teams and ensure AI initiatives deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organisation-wide AI strategy.
  • Lead AI innovation, research and transformation initiatives.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing AI team.
  • Establish AI governance, ethics, security and risk frameworks.
  • Oversee AI infrastructure, data quality and technology adoption.
  • Partner with executive leadership, technology, investment and compliance teams.
  • Manage AI budgets, vendor relationships and ROI.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify commercial opportunities.

About You

  • 10+ years’ experience across AI strategy, transformation or related technology roles.
  • 5+ years’ experience in leadership or management.
  • Proven experience delivering AI initiatives across an organisation.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering, architecture and cybersecurity.
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI, explainability, bias detection and data security.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical or quantitative discipline. e.g Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
