Ref: HOS21

We are looking for an outstanding leader to join our ambitious Property team as our new Head of Asset Management.

With a portfolio of more than 10,000 homes, you will lead high-performing teams responsible for Responsive Repairs, Empty Homes, Capital Investment, Strategic Asset Management and the decarbonisation of our social housing stock. This is an exciting opportunity to shape services that have a direct impact on the lives of our residents, ensuring their homes are safe, well maintained and places they are proud to live.

At the heart of this role is a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will champion a culture of resident focus, innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring that safety, quality and value for money underpin every decision. Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and partners, you will drive performance, deliver ambitious programmes and help us realise our vision for modern, sustainable housing services.

We are seeking an exceptional leader with substantial experience across the full breadth of Asset Management. You will bring strategic vision, commercial awareness and a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding outcomes. Just as importantly, you will demonstrate empathy, integrity and the ability to inspire others, creating an environment where people thrive and residents remain at the centre of everything we do.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Council is going through a major change as part of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution. This means that the district and borough councils in Hertfordshire will be replaced by a smaller number of new unitary councils.

The aim is to make local government simpler and more efficient, improve services for residents, and bring decision-making closer to the communities we serve.

What This Means For You

If you join Dacorum Borough Council between now and 31 March 2028, you will move to a new organisation on 1 April 2028. Your role will transfer to the new authority, but the way you work and who you report to may change.

While this may be different from what you are used to, it is also a rare and exciting opportunity to join Dacorum at a time of real change.

You will have the chance to help shape the future of local services and be part of building something new.

The new unitary councils will create opportunities for innovation, growth, and better public services. They will offer a more joined-up and forward-looking working environment for employees.

We are committed to supporting our staff and continuing to deliver high-quality services for residents throughout this change. Together, we are building a better future.
