The role

As Head of Asset Management Performance and Risk, you’ll have an opportunity to take a leading role in shaping how Babcock manages, protects and optimises critical assets that support national security and essential infrastructure. As the organisational authority for risk-based asset management decision-making, you'll influence investment strategies, enhance operational resilience and help ensure that our assets deliver maximum value throughout their lifecycle. This is a highly visible leadership position where your expertise will directly support strategic decision-making across a complex and dynamic organisation while providing significant opportunities for professional growth and impact.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide asset performance and risk management frameworks. Working with senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide executive insight that supports informed investment decisions, long-term asset strategies and operational excellence.

  • Defining enterprise asset performance measures, frameworks and key performance indicators.
  • Establishing asset health, condition and criticality assessment methodologies to support effective decision-making.
  • Monitoring performance trends, identifying emerging risks and escalating significant concerns to executive governance forums.
  • Producing executive-level insight and reporting on asset performance, risk exposure and investment priorities.
  • Supporting strategic planning, regulatory submissions and risk-informed capital investment decisions.

This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days onsite at one of Babcock’s key locations: Babcock Technology Centre, Devonport Royal Dockyard or HM Naval Base Clyde, Near Helensburgh Argyll and Bute site. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to the other sites to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery across the business.

Essential experience of the Head of Asset Management Performance and Risk

  • Experience applying risk-based asset management principles and risk modelling methodologies.
  • Experience developing and implementing asset performance management frameworks and key performance indicators.
  • Experience in strategic asset planning and capital investment decision-making.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and providing data-driven strategic recommendations.
  • Experience delivering performance and risk insights within complex asset-intensive environments.

Qualifications for the Head of Asset Management Performance and Risk

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, Risk Management or a related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.

Desirable:

  • Chartered professional registration.
  • Institute of Asset Management Diploma or equivalent qualification.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
