Cazoo
Cazoo, is the ultimate destination for car enthusiasts and buyers alike! As a leader in the market, we pride ourselves on providing unparalleled search tools, expert car guides, insightful reviews, and a comprehensive vehicle price guide. Our mission is simple: to empower buyers to find their perfect car efficiently and with confidence, while also helping automotive retailers reach millions of eager buyers.
At Cazoo, you'll be part of a team that's revolutionising the way people buy and sell cars. If you're ready to drive your career forward in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, Cazoo is the place for you. Join us and be a part of shaping the future of automotive retail!
We're looking for a Head of Business Intelligence & Performance Reporting to build the function from the ground up at one of the UK's most ambitious automotive marketplace challengers.
Reporting into the Director of Analytics, you will own the BI & Performance Reporting layer of our Decision Intelligence stack, the semantic models, report catalogue, KPI framework and self-service infrastructure that give every part of the business a clear, trusted and timely view of what is happening. By owning this layer with rigour and quality, you free our Analytics team to focus on what they do best.
This is a player-coach role. You will lead and grow a team of BI & Performance Reporting Developers whilst remaining hands-on in the platform as the overall owner of Power BI at Cazoo.
Reports To: Director of Analytics
Contract Type: Permanent
About the role:
- Define, own and execute the BI & Performance Reporting strategy and roadmap, setting the vision for what a high-performing BI function looks like at Cazoo and building towards it, quarter by quarter, including the operating model, service catalogue, prioritisation framework and SLAs.
- Develop and maintain the report catalogue and data dictionary, creating a trusted reference point for all BI outputs, with agreed metric definitions that eliminate conflicting data sources across the business.
- Be the overall owner of Cazoo's Power BI environment, workspace administration, access management, semantic model development, platform governance and best practice standards, working closely with Data Engineering on the underlying data model layer and ongoing migration away from legacy infrastructure.
- Lead the delivery of the BI initiative pipeline, from an automated daily KPI report for Leadership to dealer-facing self-service reporting, self-service analytics for Marketing, Finance, Commercial and Product, and a real-time telemetry layer for cross-functional Decision Intelligence initiatives.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of BI & Performance Reporting Developers, setting clear objectives, championing agile ways of working, and raising the bar on quality and craft across all BI outputs.
- Own the Power BI enablement programme and build strong relationships across the business, driving self-service maturity, translating BI outputs into clear decision-ready intelligence, and ensuring the business can act on the data it has.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we ideally looking for:
Essential
- A track record leading a BI & Performance Reporting team in a fast-paced digital, e-commerce or marketplace environment, with clear examples of going beyond dashboards to drive genuine business value.
- Expert-level Power BI, semantic modelling, DAX, row-level security, workspace management and deployment pipelines. Strong Looker, Tableau or Qlik practitioners with a clear commitment to a Power BI-first environment will also be considered.
- Advanced SQL, with experience querying large-scale cloud data platforms and the ability to coach others in SQL best practice.
- Hands-on experience building or working alongside a semantic or data model layer, working knowledge of dbt is a significant advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management: able to build trusted relationships from operational teams through to Leadership, translating complex data into clear narratives that drive action.
- Experience establishing BI operating models: intake, prioritisation, SLAs, version control, documentation standards and report governance.
- Player-coach mentality: equally comfortable hands-on in Power BI as leading a team ceremony or presenting to the Leadership Team.
- Experience driving data democratisation and self-service enablement, including training programmes and stakeholder onboarding.
Highly Desirable
- Familiarity with Databricks or equivalent cloud lakehouse as the data platform underpinning BI delivery.
- Experience building KPI frameworks, data dictionaries and report catalogues in complex, multi-data-source environments.

- Familiarity with GitHub for BI artefact management, Power Automate for ETL or report distribution, and Google Analytics or Looker Studio for web and product analytics.
- Exposure to Power BI Premium or embedded licences for external-facing BI deployments.
What we offer:
Enterprise-grade tooling from day one: Databricks, dbt, Power BI, GitHub.
- Direct access to a Director of Analytics who has built Decision Intelligence functions before, and a business that is genuinely ready to act on what you build.
- A clear career pathway and the opportunity to grow alongside Cazoo's ambition to become the undisputed challenger in the UK used-car classifieds sector.
Our Values:
Everything we do at Cazoo is shaped by three values: Fearless, Dynamic, and Better Together. They are not words on a wall, they are the lens we hire through and the behaviours we celebrate every day.
