Head of Bids, Tenders & Social Value

Location: Cardiff / London (Hybrid Working)

Salary: £75,000 - £80,000 6 Month FTC

Open to competitive Day Rate (Inside IR35)

Are you a strategic bid leader who thrives in a "player-manager" role? We are representing a leading, full-service commercial law firm that is anything but "stuffy". They are currently seeking an experienced Head of Bids/Bid Director, Tenders & Social Value to provide strategic leadership and stability during a pivotal period of growth.

Strategic Leadership & Bid Excellence

  • Lead the Charge: Oversee the entire bid and tender lifecycle, from scoping and "stop/go" decisions to final submission.
  • Content Innovation: Draft, edit, and proofread compelling content, ensuring a consistent tone of voice and high-quality presentation.
  • Coach for Success: Partner with legal teams and partners to coach them for high-stakes presentations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement innovative improvements to content, messaging, and internal bid processes.

Championing Social Value

  • Drive Impact: Plan and deliver meaningful social value activities in collaboration with Operations and HR, focusing on key clients and target sectors.
  • Build Alliances: Manage vital relationships across the public and private sectors, community organizations, and charities.
  • Storytelling: Work with Marketing to promote internal engagement and share the impact of the firm’s community-minded projects.

The Ideal Profile

  • Experienced Leader: You likely have 10+ years of experience in bid management leadership roles and can hit the ground running.
  • Public Sector Savvy: You are confident and competent in navigating the complexities of the public sector arena.
  • Sector Expertise: While legal sector experience is a significant plus, a background in professional services or consultancy is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative Mindset: You possess a pragmatic, grown-up low ego approach to work and enjoy a fast-paced, collaborative environment where partners are approachable and hierarchies are flat.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You can translate technical legal content into bid-appropriate language that resonates with clients.
