The Role
So Energy has ambitious plans for growth and brand is central to how we get there. The Head of Brand will make So Energy a name that people know, trust and choose, for reasons beyond savings.
You’ll shape how we show up wherever customers find us, from advertising to customer service to word of mouth. You’ll identify the ideas that will get people talking about So Energy and you’ll make the commercial case for brand, using evidence to prove the impact.
You'll lead a small team, move between strategy and hands-on campaign management, and bring the wider business and agency partners with you. This is a high-profile role for someone excited about helping a challenger brand compete with much bigger names.
Reporting to Michael Campbell, Marketing Director 👋
What you’ll be getting up to in this role:
- Own the So Energy brand strategy, positioning and identity, building a distinctive challenger brand that people know and trust.
- Make the commercial case for brand, manage the brand budget and use data and insight to prove the impact of brand initiatives.
- Lead integrated brand campaigns across advertising, sponsorship, social and content to increase brand awareness and consideration.
- Lead PR to raise the profile of So Energy, build trust with customers and partners and secure external validation such as awards.
- Translate consumer insights into commercial opportunities, shaping which products we launch as well as how we promote them.
- Build frameworks and processes for brand governance, creative development and campaign planning, embedding AI tools to scale.
- Lead, coach and develop a small team, setting the direction, defining best practice and helping them deliver at pace.
- Manage creative, media and PR agencies to deliver distinctive, effective work, commercial impact and value for money.
- Ensure advertising meets regulatory standards (Ofgem, ASA) with robust substantiation for all proof points.
- Proactively contribute to the leadership community at So Energy to maintain a strong culture and effective ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
