Are you an engaging leader with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage and develop brand and marketing specialists? Would you like the opportunity to design and deliver marketing strategies and guide all aspects of brand marketing activity for the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity?
About the role
We are recruiting for a Head of Brand and Marketing to join us on a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract. This is a home-based role working full-time, 35 hours per week, with regular travel (on average once per week) required to our London office for team and stakeholder meetings and events.
The last few years have seen unprecedented growth in the public profile of dementia, driven in part by the growing size, impact and ambition of Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. Crucial to this next period is continued growth of public awareness, understanding and engagement regarding dementia, as well as growth of the Alzheimer’s Society brand.
As Head of Brand and Marketing, you will be instrumental in helping us deliver this growth. You will focus on managing and upskilling a team of marketing and creative specialists, providing strategic continuity and consistent support and acting as a role model to drive forward an inclusive, collaborative, high-performance culture.
Using your extensive experience in marketing and brand development you will help shape our brand strategy, and direct all aspects of our brand marketing activity. You will be responsible for designing and delivering marketing strategies and campaigns for a wide range of Society activity, including the promotion of our vital support services and resources, driving engagement with our campaigning and influencing work and growing our volunteer base.
In this role, you will work to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation and a wide range of external partners and agencies. You will oversee our Brand Integration function to ensure consistency of visual identity and key messaging, and our Strategic Communications team to ensure coherence and coordination of paid, owned and earned media activity. Throughout, you will also collaborate with our in-house research and analysis teams to ensure your team’s work and impact is supported by exceptional audience insight and evaluation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
