About Crane
Crane is the global inception-to-seed platform for synthesist founders. We back extraordinary founders from the very beginning — wherever they are in the world — who bring together ideas, technologies and disciplines in unexpected ways to build the companies that shape the future, and what comes next.
At Crane, we are first to believe and last to leave. We invest at inception and seed, but our commitment extends far beyond the investment itself. We stay alongside founders as they turn an idea into a company, a company into a category, and early conviction into something enduring.
That belief is also why Founder Value exists.
We don't believe founders need another investor telling them how to run their company. Every founder is different. Every company is different. Instead, we help founders identify what matters most, bring the right people and resources to bear, and get important things done.
Brand & Content is an important part of that commitment.
The Opportunity
The technologies Crane invests in are often complex. The founders we back frequently see something before everyone else does. And many important companies begin with an idea that is difficult to explain, easy to dismiss or years ahead of conventional wisdom.
The Head of Brand & Content will help make those ideas impossible to ignore.
You will own and build Crane's voice, relevance and reputation while helping our founders establish category leadership and market influence.
You will turn Crane's ideas, people, portfolio and perspective into influence, shaping how Crane is understood globally and helping founders do the same for their companies.
This is not a traditional marketing communications role. We aren't looking for someone to fill a content calendar or manufacture attention. We are looking for someone with exceptional editorial judgment who can find the important idea, sharpen it and turn it into something people remember, repeat and act upon.
How You Will Create Impact
Build the Crane Brand
- Own how Crane presents itself to the world across narrative, voice, visual expression and experience.
- Continuously sharpen Crane's positioning and ensure everything we put into the world feels distinctive, coherent and unmistakably Crane.
- Translate Crane's beliefs, investment perspective and approach to founders into stories and ideas that build long-term reputation.
- Build a globally relevant brand while preserving the humanity, curiosity and point of view that make Crane different.
Build Crane's Editorial Voice
- Develop an editorial agenda around the ideas, technologies and shifts Crane believes matter.
- Work with Crane's partners, investment team, Venture Partners, founders and broader network to uncover original perspectives worth sharing.
- Find the insights and stories that might otherwise remain trapped in conversations, meetings and people's heads.
- Turn those ideas into exceptional articles, essays, reports, interviews, films and other formats.
- Constantly ask: What's the idea? Why now? Why Crane? Why should anyone care?
The objective isn't more content. It's better ideas.
Tell the Stories of Crane's Founders
- Find and tell the stories of the extraordinary people and companies Crane backs.
- Help founders articulate what they believe, what they are building, why it needs to exist and why it matters now.
- Build founder narratives that go beyond funding announcements and product launches.
- Use Crane's channels, network and relationships to amplify founder voices and help emerging companies establish authority in their markets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Help Founders Build Category Leadership
- Work with selected portfolio companies where Brand & Content can materially affect the company's trajectory.
- Help founders sharpen positioning, category narratives and strategic messaging.
- Support companies around defining moments such as launches, fundraising, category creation and major market shifts.
- Bring the right communications, creative, brand and media expertise to bear when specialist support is required.
The goal isn't to become an outsourced marketing department. It's to identify where Crane can make the greatest difference and bring the right people, expertise and network to bear.

- Own Crane's website, social channels, newsletters and other digital expressions of the brand.
- Ensure Crane's digital presence reflects who we are today and where we're going.
- Build a thoughtful approach to distribution so that great ideas reach the people who will care about them.
- Use data to understand what resonates without allowing algorithms to determine what Crane believes is worth saying.
Lead PR, Media & Influence
- Rethink what PR and media relations should look like in a world where influence is increasingly distributed across traditional media, independent voices, creators, communities, podcasts, newsletters and owned channels.
- Develop new ways to earn attention and extend Crane's reach, combining great storytelling, direct relationships, original ideas and creative distribution rather than relying on traditional media relations alone.
- Build meaningful relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, creators and other influential voices across the global technology ecosystem.
- Measure success by whether Crane's ideas and founders reach and influence the right people, not simply by the volume of coverage generated.
Work Across Founder Value
- Partner closely with the Founder Office, Crane Network and Talent teams.
- Use the priorities and intelligence emerging from our portfolio to identify where Brand & Content can make a meaningful difference.
- Bring relevant ideas, people, media opportunities and expertise into founder engagements.
- Ensure Crane's external voice is connected to the actual work we're doing with founders.

Intellectually Curious

- You don't need to be an engineer, but you have the curiosity and confidence to engage deeply with technical founders and emerging technologies.
- You ask good questions, and keep asking until you understand.
Comfortable With Complexity

- You are comfortable working in areas where the vocabulary or category may not yet exist.
- You enjoy making the complicated understandable.
Executive Credibility
- You are comfortable working directly with founders, CEOs, investors, journalists and senior executives.

Globally Minded
- Crane is global by design.
- You understand that ideas, founders and influence don't stop at national borders.
- You can build a brand that travels across markets and cultures without making it generic.
Media Fluent
- You understand how modern influence works across earned, owned and social media.
- You know how journalists think and what makes a story travel.
- But you don't mistake attention for influence — or coverage for reputation.
A Builder
- You want to create something rather than inherit a finished machine.
- You can set the strategy and then roll up your sleeves to make the work happen.
- You are resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity and have high agency.
High Standards, Low Ego
- You care deeply about the quality of the work but don't need to be the person whose name is on it.
- You are equally comfortable creating something yourself, making someone else's thinking sharper, and helping someone else's voice become more powerful.
