Head of Building Safety & Compliance (Associate Director)
BlueLight Management is a growing multidisciplinary construction consultancy delivering Project Management, Construction Management, Commercial Management, Building Surveying, Building Safety & Compliance, and Fire Engineering services across the UK. We support clients across healthcare, residential, commercial, and public sector projects, providing strategic advice and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Head of Building Safety & Compliance to lead and grow our Building Safety & Compliance service line. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing our Building Safety Act, Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) and CDM Principal Designer services whilst growing and managing a team of Building Safety Consultants and Principal Designers. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for service growth, technical leadership, work winning, team development, and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Building Safety & Compliance service line nationally.
- Manage and develop a team of Building Safety Consultants, BRPDs, and CDM Principal Designers.
- Oversee delivery of Building Safety Act advisory services, including Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions.
- Provide technical leadership on Higher-Risk Building projects and Building Regulations compliance.
- Act as Building Regulations Principal Designer and CDM Principal Designer where required.
- Drive business development, client relationship management, and framework growth.
- Prepare and oversee fee proposals, resource planning, and service budgets.
- Monitor service performance, utilisation, profitability, and quality standards.
- Support recruitment, mentoring, and professional development across the team.
- Promote continual improvement, technical excellence, and regulatory compliance.

About You
- Significant experience in Building Safety, Building Control, Building Surveying, or Compliance Consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Higher-Risk Building regime.
- Experience with Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 processes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and client-facing consultancy services.
- Strong commercial awareness and business development skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Chartered status or professional membership (MRICS, MCIOB, CABE, MCIAT, or equivalent) would be advantageous.
