Lincoln Cornhill is proud to be working with a reputable Housing provider in the Midlands to source a Head of Building Safety & Compliance on a permanent basis. The annual salary is £70,000 - £75,000 per annum + car allowance. You will be required to work in the office three times a week.

The appointed candidate will report to the Assistant Director of Property to provide strategic and professional leadership for statutory compliance, building and fire safety and property related health and safety across the organisation.

The postholder will lead compliance strategy, risk management, and assurance frameworks, data and performance management across statutory compliance and safety disciplines including gas, electrical safety, fire, asbestos, lifts, water hygiene, CDM, and associated facilities compliance.

The range of functions which are covered include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous review of the organisation’s Building Safety and Compliance Strategy
  • Act as the organisation’s senior property safety and compliance lead, providing authoritative advice, challenge and escalation on building safety, statutory compliance and property risk
  • Hold strategic responsibility for the effective delivery and assurance of statutory compliance and building safety across the Group including higher-risk, high-rise, complex and supported housing buildings
  • Ensure effective arrangements are maintained for compliance with the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, health and safety legislation, including oversight of Building Safety Case Reports and regulatory submissions where applicable
  • Lead the delivery, monitoring and assurance of all statutory compliance programmes, including gas, electrical safety, fire, asbestos, water hygiene, lifts, CDM and other property-related safety obligations
  • Ensure robust financial planning, forecasting, budget monitoring and cost-control arrangements are maintained and that material variances and pressures are escalated appropriately
  • Lead the procurement, mobilisation, governance and performance management of compliance contractors, specialist consultants and technical service providers
  • Lead engagement with residents, leaseholders, regulators, local authorities, Fire and Rescue Services, professional advisers and other key stakeholders on material safety and compliance matters

Experience and skills required:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in building safety, fire safety, statutory compliance or property safety within social housing or another complex and highly regulated environment, including significant experience at senior management level.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary statutory compliance services and providing assurance across a broad range of compliance disciplines.
  • Educated to Level 6 (degree level or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, such as Building Safety, Fire Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Property, Construction, or a related field; or able to demonstrate substantial senior-level professional experience
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing multi-disciplinary safety and compliance team and to create clear accountability for performance and risk
